Rev. David Nofziger, MDiv, LSW

Director/Counselor

Rev. David Nofziger has been the director of Hope Alive Counseling Services since our office opened in 1989, providing Biblically based counseling to residents all across Northwest Ohio.

In 1981, Rev. Nofziger graduated from the Ashland Theological Seminary, located in Ashland, Ohio. He received a Masters degree in theological studies at the Seminary along with a special major in Pastoral Psychology and Counseling through Emerge Ministries in Akron, Ohio. His undergraduate work incuded completing a major in Christian Education at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana before earning his Bachelor’s degree at Bowling Green State University where he focused on Psychology and Speech.

After completing his graduate work, he spent six years as an associate pastor for the Ashford Christian Fellowship in England, providing pastoral counseling, as well as helping with teaching and visitation ministries. He and his family returned to Ohio in 1989, at which time he became the director of Hope Alive Counseling Services. He has been an Ordained Minister for the past 40 years, and has been licensed as a Social Worker in Ohio since 1993.

He has pastored two churches, the Ashland Brethren in Christ Church in Ashland, Ohio, and the Raker Union Church in Delta, Ohio.

Dave and his wife, Sue, have been married over 40 years. They head up the Missions Program at their local church – the Family Christian Center. They have two adult daughters, and three grandchildren.


Rev. Kelly McMaster, MSW, LSW

Counselor

Rev. Kelly McMaster has been with Hope Alive Counseling since 1998, providing Biblically based counseling to residents all across Defiance, Henry, Fulton, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert, and Williams Counties.

In 1997, Rev. McMaster graduated from The Ohio State University with her Masters degree in Social Work. She completed her Bachelor of Science studies from The Defiance College, Taylor University (formerly Fort Wayne Bible College), and CTC (Christian Training Center) also located in Fort Wayne.

After earning her undergraduate degrees from The Defiance College, she spent nine years as a licensed social worker working for governmental and private agencies ministering to local families affected by abuse and neglect. She and her husband have also served as youth pastors and associate pastors in area churches helping with teaching, pastoral counseling, music, and mission ministries for the past 30 years.

Kelly loves working with couples and finds great joy working with children and teens with practical day-to-day issues. Teaching others to work through tough times and find the joy of Christ in their lives is what keeps Kelly studying and learning current and up-to-date counseling methods. She has been a licensed social worker since 1990 and a licensed minister since 1998.

Kelly, her husband Dave, and their five children: Madeleine, Claire, Shea, Liam and Sydney currently live in Defiance.
